NORTON ELECTRIC START CNW CONVERSION KIT COMMANDO 1970-74 750 850 PRE MK3. For all your classic bike spares needs. NORTON ELECTRIC START CONVERSION KIT Made in the USA! Fits: Norton Commando 1970-74 750 and 850.

Pre 1970 Commandos with distributor/magneto etc. Mark III Commando with factory starter. This is the best electric starter retrofit kit available for the Norton Commando. It is thoroughly engineered and tested. Individual parts are made from billet materials for top quality tolerance and finish. It is a true bolt-on kit with no permanent modifications to the bike and is completely reversible. CNC billet aluminum inner primary. Precision cut 6061 billet to ensure highest quality, tightest tolerances and best possible finish. The kit includes a complete belt drive system. With a hardened clutch center.

Belt drive uses a narrow (21mm) Gates, Poly Carbon belt. Front sprocket is made from S7 tool steel for superior strength and wear characteristics.

Clutch basket is made from 6061 billet aluminum for strength and weight savings. (Clutch stack is not included, but we have Made in UK or USA kits in stock).

Starter system is completely driven by precision cut gears. Front drive gear is made from S7 tool steel to ensure longevity without any reduction in performance. All other gears are made from 4340 steel and will be cut to AGMA class 10 or 11 specs. High output, solenoid-operated starter motor.

NO SPRAG CLUTCH TO WORRY ABOUT like MK3!!! Proven design used on large displacement V-Twins and Diesel applications. Easy to find replacements anytime in the future.

Sealed bearings are used throughout. Kit includes a starter switch and all wiring to hook it up to your bike. All hardware, gaskets, seals and installation manual are included.

System is designed to use a stock Lucas type alternator (we sell a high output 3-phase alternator for optimum charging). A larger battery may be required. The kit can be used both on a Positive ground machine or a Negative ground machine.

Once again, the major components are all made in the USA! The retrofit kit will not fit on a 1975 MkIII machine as a replacement for the original. The kit will not fit the early Commandos that have the points pod behind the timing cover.

The kit will not allow you to use the stock Amal air filter. Many different replacement filters are available. The kit does not include a clutch stack. We can supply OEM Norton or Barnett plates if your old ones are not to be used. Bronze plates should not be used. The kit does not include an outer primary cover. Your stock Norton part will fit.
